My wife and I went to this place last night and we were pretty excited to try a local Japanese restaurant.
The excitement went down hill due to the value for money..you just don’t get it here.
1. Coke no sugar was flat
2. Crispy pork was not crispy it was chewy, to be fair it was like chewing on a piece of rubber
The quality isn’t up there for the prices you pay.
We did let the waitress kindly know the pork wasn’t good for future reference.
We won’t be back

Looking for lunch, but could not really sit inside. Outside in full sun, but owner liked to keep the inside free of customers. After 4 or 5 different requests a table inside could be available. Bit of a joke. However their Lunch menu happened only to be a diner option with larger bowls available. So no bao or rolls or sushi. Given attitude, location and menu offers I think this place won’t last very long.

We loved the Miso Eggplant (it was deep fried, not roasted). Sashimi selection and Spicy Edmame were good. Both beef and salmon taco were a let down, didnt like at all. The ambience is too dim, i like to see what i am eating. Service was hit and miss. For the price tag its not an equivalent experience. More

If you’re planning dinner or an event here DO IT. We hosted my sisters hens here and not only did she have a ball, the whole team made sure the whole experience (food, atmosphere, vibes were immaculate). Special mention to Teide whose communication and perfect customer service made sure our hen had a night to remember.

First night in Sydney and we had drinks and dinner here. Amazing service, delicious food. We had tacos, steak and broccolini. Would highly recommend. Didn’t book we arrived and they accommodated us. Music is loud but really enjoyable and can still talk - but honestly best service, food and ambience More

Mamasan never disappoints. The food was incredible - full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, and the service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Easily one of the best dining spots in Bondi. We’ll definitely be back.

We came for the bottomless brunch and, honestly, left feeling a bit underwhelmed. The food was mostly mediocre, the only real standout was the sashimi taco, which was genuinely tasty. The lotus root chips were also good, though that’s a fairly standard dish you’d expect to be nice anywhere. Everything else on the set menu just felt a little off, lacking the freshness and balance you’d hope for from a Japanese-inspired banquet.
The drinks were decent but not amazing; the bottomless margaritas were enjoyable enough but didn’t quite hit the mark. Service also felt a little impersonal, we didn’t feel especially welcomed or looked after.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience, but it didn’t live up to the price or the vibe we’d hoped for when celebrating a special occasion. There are plenty of other bottomless brunch spots in Bondi that offer better food, atmosphere, and value for money.

Not bad, the food was pretty decent and the vibes of the restaurant was very cozy and warm! I had the chargrilled steak for $32. When it came, I was very surprised by the portion because I thought it would be a regular sized steak but I guess it’s just the Japanese style. It was pretty good though. More

We had an incredible experience last weekend at Mamasaan, Japanese fusion restaurant in Bondi. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric — nice decor, dim lighting, and an overall vibe that just pulls you in. The live music added the perfect touch without being overpowering — it really set the tone for a fun and memorable night.
The food was a delicious blend of traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor — clearly made with care and creativity. They had a lot of vegetarian options too which was amazing! Bao buns are a must try!
And the cocktails? Next level. Each one was crafted to perfection, both in taste and presentation. Definitely some of the best I’ve had in Sydney.
Whether you’re looking for a date night spot, a place to catch up with friends, or just want to treat yourself to a great meal and drinks, Mamasaan Bondi ticks all the boxes. Can’t wait to visit again!

Lmao at all these shady reviews.
Ummm, I had a cute time. My partner and I stumbled upon this place during a lil night walk home and it was a happy accident.
It was our last night in Sydney and this was the best way to wrap up such a spectacular trip. I'm really sounding like a boomer when I write this out but whatever, I had a cute time.

I've always seen this place as a bar for the throngs "of a certain age" that can afford to live in these parts. The food steps up to the plate, and gets on base more often than not. The kingfish is a standout, with generous fish finding an inspiringdressing. The cucumber a decent attempt to get the kimchi vibes, but the cauliflower falls flatter than than a grey day's optimism. The cauliflower is either frozen or just overcooked. And the coating lends nothing to the equation. It certainly doesnt need more fat, in the form of a good mayo. The service sparkles, and by the look of the crowd, those of my vintage are about to let loose, before the kiddies make them feel their age, across the street.

Not sure who’s writing these positive review but the food did not hit AT all.
My girlfriend’s Coke Zero was flat.
The kingfish sauce was WAY too floral. It was incredibly sweet and didn’t accompany the beautiful kingfish at all.
The cucumber kimchi wasn’t even sliced all the way though so made it slightly difficult for eating.
The dumplings were a disaster. The pork and prawn wontons in broth were dry. Like the filing was actually dry - either by using crap pork mince or overworking the dumpling mixture.
The Tom yum dumplings had a nice flavour but the dumpling skin just fell apart.
Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be coming back.
Meal gets a 2.5/5.
Find other restaurants and poor food with a $150 bill is WILD.

Amazing food, much better than expected. Loved every dish we ordered. Not my type of murals but great lighting at the back for mirror selfies. Became one of my fave Japanese fusion places in Sydney.
